What good?

So many times we concentrate on the negative aspects of our lives (read diet/exercise here). The scales go up, we didn't drink our water, we had unexpected chocolate or whatever. You can pick it and we all have one. The first week I started WW. I lost 10.8 pounds. A totally, absolutely, unrealistic weight loss. I had had that miserable flu during the week and was completely and totally empty of fluids and food. I knew that the minute I started to eat and drink normally that I would gain. And of course the second week I gained 2.2 pounds. Realistically, of course, 8.6 is a fabulous weight loss for 2 weeks. But, uh uh oh no I could barely wrap my mind around the fact that I had gained and on my second week at that. Logic and realistic expectations had no place in this at all. I could feel myself going for the deep dive of depression regarding my weight gain. I was ready to kick myself and tell how awful I was and what a horrible person I was. I was not a success or an example to anyone. It didn't matter that I made it a mile in the advanced exercise dvd or that I drank more water than I have for a long time or that I ate lots of vegetables or that I don't have the junk available in the house to nibble on. Or that I remained under the number of points I could have. All of that was irrelevant because I had gained 2.2 miserable, nasty, despicable pounds. Instead of concentrating on the positive (the 8.6 lb loss and other stuff) I could only see the numbers +2.2. It took a lot of people telling me the positive and reinforcing the good and finally I could agree. I did do well. I was a success. I could hold my head high.

Now what I would like to see from you all ( anyone can make a comment) is what was good about your week. I don't want to hear that you ate 16 lbs of chocolate covered cherries or slept 24 hours a day or .... you get the idea. What positive changes happened or what was positive that happened. Exercise? Veggies? Not eating 16 lbs of chocolate covered cherries when you had the opportunity? Weight loss? Drinking water? Share with us!

Let us applaud you! You deserve it!

Hey, you are doing fabulous! When you think of all the "dos" you've been having at your house this week and last, staying the same is a full fledged miracle in my eyes. You obviously are making good choices and keeping up on the activity as well.

Way to go!

I saw you there Shannon. Just a pumpin'! I was amazed a what you could do. What with surgery and the lung thing. I wish I could keep up with you. One day, though, you'll be chasing me to keep up. Right now that just makes me laugh but thats okay. I'm coming up from behind. Watchout!

Mrs. Wizzle, so many times I would find myself getting caught up in looking at the BIG goal instead of tiny baby steps and TRYING to change one small thing, and then I would give up before I even started.

My first week I tackles the junkfood and snacking, totally eliminated it and started drinking my water. I didn't focus too much on portion control right off the bat, although I didn't go crazy.

It didn't take the whole week for me to be able to start working on the rest of the of the meal guidlines.

I think the best thing in all of this is the total moral support I found, not just with family, but with co-workers and church family. It is amazing and so necessary!

Keep it up Mrs. Wizzle!!!

Junk food, snacking and water are huge steps! A lot of times simply being aware of what we put in our mouths makes a huge difference!

I am so proud of you and your sister! Keep up the great work!
