Energetic "Worship"

I don't know about you, but I don't ever get really excited about some types of work. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind working, but there are some things that I just don't like to do. I guess that's why I never really liked the term "working out" or "exercise." It doesn't sound like a lot of fun, does it? (Hey, I'm just being honest!)

After reading Leslie's third book, "Walking the Walk - Getting Fit With Faith," I found a term that she used in the introduction that I really liked.

First, let me say that we all like to worship. We're Pentecostals for goodness sakes!!! Worship is just a part of us, or should be. I believe that what we do with our temples is a part of our worship. Most of us would never think about pouring sodas, smearing chocolates on the carpet, or cramming greasy foods on our church buildings or places where we meet with God's people, would we? But not a lot even stop to think about what we're putting into the real temple of God - our bodies. (I Corinthians 3:16-17, 6:12-20). What we do with our bodies - the temple of God- is a part of our worship to Him. It is our responsibility to take care of His dwelling place!

Exercise or whatever you want to call it, is a part of taking care of the temple of God. The term that I found in Leslie's book is "energetic worship." I loved the thought and that is what I call my workouts now. I love it that God has allowed me to get out of bed and be able to move, so while I exercise, that's what I am doing with my body or temple of God. I am "energetically worshiping," - keeping His temple fit!

How many will "energetically worship" with me this week?
