Stress and weight management

I went to a class today at lunch time provided by Enmax... and found some very interesting facts about it.

  • There is a chemical reaction to when you think about stress. It is what is called cortisol is creating a reaction in your body. A high level of cortisol creates a craving for carbs, sugar, and fatty foods.

  • The more you decide to remain thinking about the stressful situation, the more of a negative circular reaction it creates in your body.

  • Do you know that someone cutting you off in traffic creates a rise in your blood pressure your pulse for about 60-90 seconds the cortisol is there, but when a child, spouse, or parent, specific email or something else sets your emotions off… the cortisol remains within your body for 13 hours!!!

  • The more cortisol you create within yourself, the more it will affect you. You have loss of sleep, you start getting moody, you get frustrated easily, you get angry quicker, and you start gaining weight around stomach and hip areas because you are craving the bad foods.

  • This is all based on how you decide to react to a circumstance. During the class it made me think of “10% of life is circumstance, 90% of life is how we choose to deal with the circumstances”!

  • Now DHEA levels on the other hand are very good to have. This is created by thinking positively, but if you need a natural way to create a higher DHEA level, you need to exercise.

  • With that in mind, the way you choose to react to circumstances... should help you loose weight without having to diet.

Pretty interesting huh?!!? Most women are emotional eaters!
